Welcome To The Playroom

Staff

We recognise that our staff are the most valuable resource upon which the quality of our service depends.

All staff:
- are qualified childcare professionals.
- have specialised in various areas of childhood care and education including playskills, Montessori, High Scope and first aid.
- meet our required standards with regard to having a genuine commitment towards caring for your children and towards confidentiality.
- are currently in training to enhance the qualifications they already have.

Food

At The Playroom we encourage children to develop healthy eating habits. We have our own cook who prepares fresh food everyday.

We provide:
- breakfast, dinner and two healthy snacks.
- we have drawn up a varied, nutritious and well balanced menu, which will be displayed daily.
- treats are limited to special occasions.

Parents must advise The Playroom staff of any special dietary requirements and these will be catered for in conjunction with them.

Health, Hygiene & Safety

The Playroom conforms to the terms and conditions of the N.C.N.A guidelines and to the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 1989. A safety statement will be drawn up and revised annually. Parents are encouraged to read this statement which will be displayed on the noticeboard.

Sickness

Parents are requested to:

- Discuss with staff concerns regarding their child's health, in particular if they have been unwell during the night or away from the nursery.
- Notify staff if their child has contacted or been in contact with someone with a communicable disease.
- Complete a medicine request form if their child is to be given medication during nursery hours.

If your child becomes ill in the nursery, we will contact parents and proceed accordingly. This may involve contacting our GP on-call or the family GP as appropriate.

Attendance

Please inform staff:
- If your child will be absent from the nursery.
- If your child will be late arriving to the nursery.

Drop-off & Collection

Parents are requested to:
- Leave their child in the care of a staff member when dropping them off.
- Notify staff if a designated person is to drop-off or collect their child. This must be recorded in the childs records.

Key - Worker System

Each child has a designated key-worker within the nursery. This person acts as:

- a primary link between the family, the child and the nursery.
- A primary carer for that child, assessing their developmental needs and ensuring these are met.
- An advocate for the child.

Working with Parents

The Playroom is committed to the policy that staff and parents must work together to foster the development of the children in our care. This will involve the regular exchange of information and expectations between the nursery and parents.
