Introducing Your Child to The Playroom

Before a child commences full time in the nursery, we like for them to have a number of introductory visits.

These visits enable your child to become familiar with the people in the nursery â“ both staff and children, and the physical surroundings. Your child has an opportunity to make the initial contact with his/her key-worker who will be the primary person in helping them integrate into the nursery setting. Your child may form the beginning of new friendships on these visits.

These visits give you as a parent the opportunity to discuss your child and impart relevant information about your child to his future carers â“ for example, â˜When he is tired he likes to have his teddy.

The length of visits can be built up to a time when your child can be left for a short period which in turn can be built up to a full day. Ideally this would take place over a two week period â“ but each  child's needs will vary and we realise that in some circumstances this period may have to shortened due to time constraints.

These visits will assist your child in settling into our nursery and will help you feel confident in the knowledge that he or she is familiar and at ease with their new environment.

We encourage parents to telephone us in order to put your mind at ease when your child begins in the nursery.
